Put Your Land to Work

Davis Hill Development helps you turn your unproductive and unused land into a revenue generating asset, while bringing additional economic and environmental benefits to many other stakeholders in the local community.

We look at our customers as long-term partners and deeply value our relationships with landowners.

Our landowner clients also include large family holding companies, Timber and Forest Management companies, and private landowners who have underutilized or unproductive land available.

Our thesis is to find land that can be utilized for harvesting the power of the sun, without taking productive land away from higher and better uses. We focus our development efforts on Brownfields, former industrial land, unproductive farmland, and acreage out of public viewsheds and scenic byways.

Solar + Land Use

Our clients include Farmers, who benefit from our Dual Use Agricultural Solar solutions, so crops can continue to grow under and around our solar arrays or sheep can graze. Did you know that sheep can graze and enjoy shade in and around a solar farm. We build projects with Dual Use in mind, to help farmers continue to focus on their core business.

Let us help you create passive income from your unused land

We’ve offered attractive lease rates to landowners in over 10 Markets nationwide. Our ground mount solar and battery storage projects range from 1 acre up to 30 acres in size.

What is a Clean Energy Land Lease?

Leasing your unused land for solar or battery storage can provide you with long term, fixed passive income.
Ground mount solar projects and stand-alone battery storage projects have a very low impact on the land, being installed on a racking system pile-driven or drilled into the ground. At the end of the lease term, all the equipment will be removed, and your land will be back how it was.
Local solar and battery storage offers benefits to your community as well, with increased tax revenue for your Town, as well as a more resilient and renewable grid.

FAQ

Are solar farms a fit for farms and agriculture?

Solar farms are one of the most benign energy production technologies on the market. They are low-impact and operate safely without impacting neighboring agricultural properties. During a solar project’s lifespan, the land regenerates and rebuilds. At the end of the solar farm’s useful life, all associated infrastructure is removed and the land is returned to its original agricultural state

Can I have a Solar + Agriculture project on my Land?

Yes, we are building more and more projects where solar and agriculture converge. This type of project is referred to as AgriVoltatics. Farmers can continue to farm their land, AND generate income from hosting our solar panels. Sheep can be grazed underneath and around our panels, crops can be grown between our panel rows (shading from panels actually stimulates many crop types and boosts yield), and large farm equipment can be operated in between the widely spaced solar arrays.

How will this project benefit my community?

Your project can provide substantial energy savings to community members through locally produced solar energy. You will be directly responsible for increasing your community’s tax base, creating local jobs, and supporting a cleaner, more resilient grid.

Will a solar farm impact my or neighboring properties?

Solar farms are harmless to land and vegetation, they do not emit sound, radiation, air pollution, or steam. We use natural buffers to preserve the landscape and views. We take our work very seriously and go above and beyond all of the necessary environmental compliance.

Will DHD cover increases in property taxes?

Yes, we cover all increases in property taxes that result from our solar project. Towns and Counties typically are very supportive of solar energy projects, due to the fact that they generate significant tax revenue for local municipal operations.

What happens after our lease runs out?

We have a ‘leave no trace’ policy. After the solar lease term is up we remove all solar panels and associated infrastructure, allowing your land to go back to what it was. Solar is an effective conservation tool. By providing income to you during the lease term, we can help keep large land tracts in family ownership. The final removal process is referred to as Decommissioning. Solar is a safe, multi-use compatible asset aligned with land stewardship.
